Radha Soami Dera Beas tenders apology – Says it has done no wrong

H S Bawa
Jalandhar, July 19-

Stating that it had done no wrong Radha Soami Dera Satsang Beas has sought apology from Sikh Sangat saying that the Dera did not intend to hurt anyone’s feelings.

A press release issued here by J C Sethi, District Secretary, Amritsar of Radha Soami Satsang Beas, said ‘Due to some misunderstandings from the last few days an atmosphere of tension has prevailed. In this respect we wish to clear that Radha Soami Satsang Beas, has always held all the ten Sikh Gurus and Shri Guru Granth Sahib in high esteem.  Even then if feelings of somebody have been hurt due to unintentional folly, we tender apology from the core of our heart’.

The press note in Punjabi further said that ideology of the Dera is based on love and we take different sections of the society along in our endeavor to seek God. The Dera has stated that there was no intention of hurting anybody’s sentiments even for an unknown reason.

Though the Dera has preferred not to say anything or even mention the issue of Gurudwara Waraich, the bone of contention between Sikh Sangat and the Dera,  the press note goes on to say that whatever has happened has happened with complete earnestness and withholding the respect and ‘Maryada’.

“Still if the Dera has become reason of some misunderstanding we extend an apology with all humility” the press note concludes.

Notably the press-note completely ignores the issue and does not say anything about the demolition of a Gurudwara in Waraich allegedly by the Dera, which has been the reason of tension between the Sikh Sangat and the Dera.

It is pertinent to mention here that allegations have been leveled by Sikh Sangat that a Gurudwara in village Waraich near the Dera was purchased alongwith panchayat land by the Dera from the Sarpanch of the village and the Gurudwara has been dismantled.

However, panthic organizations, protesting against the demolition of the Gurudwara have maintained that the Gurudwara and the land could not be sold by the Sarpanch and the Gurudwara should not have been dismantled.
