Akal Takht warns Kumar Swami : Issues appeal to Sikhs - Asks other communities to condemn the malice of Kumar Swami

Jalandhar, March 9- Akal Takht, the supreme religious authority for the Sikhs, has warned ‘godman’ Kumar Swami to refrain from trying to belittle Shri Guru Granth Sahib, the eternal Guru of Sikhs and holy books of other religions. Akal Takht has appealed to the Sikhs to keep a distance from Kumar Swami who has tried to undermine the supremacy, sanctity and authority of Shri Guru Granth Sahib.
Taking note of the issue raised by ‘Yes Punjab’ Akal Takht Jathedar, Singh Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh has asked self-styled Baba Kumar Swami to mind his own business and desist from challenging the authority of Shri Guru Granth Sahib. He said Sikhs will not take such acts lying down.
Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh who was on his way to Delhi was talking to ‘Yes Punjab’ over phone. It may be recalled that the self-styled ‘godman’ who loves to be called ‘Parampujya Brahmrishi Shree Kumar Swami ji’ had issued advertisements in some of the newspapers in Punjab on 3rd, 4th and 5th of March, 2012 in which he had claimed that he will be distributing (read selling) a ‘Nishkeelan path’ to ward off the sorrows and ailments of people.
He had claimed in the advertisements that his above said ‘nishkeelan path’ if recited for three minutes a day will prove to be a crore times effective even for the people who believe in, study and respect the verses of Guru Granth Sahib and holy books of other religions. Here, he had specifically mentioned Bhagwad Geeta, Quran-e-pak, Bible, Dhammapada and Jinvaani the holy books of Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Buddhists and Jains respectively.
‘I think that Kumar Swami has not gone through the writings of Swami Ram Tirath Dandi Sanyasi who had written ‘Sarvotam Dharam Granth Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib’. Had Kumar Swami gone through the contents of this book of Ram Tirath Dandi Sanyasi he would not have said what he has’, said Jathedar Gurbachan Singh.
Akal Takht Jathedar said, ‘Kumar Swami should have thought not only twice but many a times before issuing such advertisements. He is free to sell his ‘sauda’, but he has no business to let down and show disrespect to Shri Guru Granth Sahib and other holy books of various religions. All the holy books deserve sanctity and respect. He has got no moral authority to intrude into the affairs of other religions and indulge in unnecessary comparisons which hold no good at all and are contemptuous.’ Akal Takht also appealed to all the religions and communities who believe in their respective granths / holy books to oppose and condemn the claims of Kumar Swami as the advertisements clearly are a ploy to belittle the sanctity of the holy books.
It is pertinent to mention here that Kumar Swami is scheduled to hold his ‘Prabhu Kripa Dukh Niwaran Samagam’ and ‘Divya Aalok Salaana Utsav’ at Ranjit Avenue in the holy city of Amritsar on 10th and 11th of March, 2012.
