Punjab SC Commission warns Schools and Colleges against harassment of students

Mr Rajesh Bagha, Chairman, Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes, today warned the schools and colleges which unnecessarily harass the scheduled caste students studying there. Mr Bagha said that some complaints have come to his notice that some schools and colleges of the state are unnecessarily harassing the SC students, which is totally an unfair and biased approach which would not be tolerated by the Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes.

 

Mr Rajesh Bagha said that the Punjab government has started post-matric scholarship scheme for SC students under which 3.05 lakh students have been benefitted. He said that the Punjab government has started several schemes for the welfare of SC Community and more such schemes would be started very soon.

 

The Chairman of Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes was in city to attend a function organised on the occasion of launch of a monthly magazine, India News 24, at Circuit House, here today.

 

While speaking to the media persons, Mr Rajesh Bagha said that it has come to his notice that SC employees working in some government departments are being harassed by their officers. He said that if any officer is found harassing an SC employee unnecessarily, the Commission would have to intervene. A delegation of people of SC community also submitted a memorandum of their demands to Mr Bagha, who assured them all possible help.

 

Later, Mr Rajesh Bagha, attended a seminar organised on the occasion of Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Ravidas Maharaj Ji near Civil Hospital, here. This seminar was organised for apprising the SC community about various government schemes started by the Punjab government for the welfare of community. The issue of drug addiction was also discussed by experts in the seminar and the SC community youth were urged not to fall prey to this menace of drugs.

 

While addressing the seminar, District Welfare Officer, Ludhiana Mr Rajinder Kumar educated the SC Community about government schemes started for their welfare. He urged the SC community to take full use of these schemes and assured if they face any problem or want more detail, they can contact him or his office regarding the same.

 

Mr Bagha was later honoured at Sri Guru Ravidas Dharamshala in Amarpura, here.

 

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mr Gaurav Kumar Arora, Mr Ajay Chauhan, Mr Gurwinder Grewal, Dr Ambedkar Youth Sena president Mr Raj Kumar Happy, secretary Mr Vijay Sehgal, vice president Mr Prince Padam, general secretary Mr Zaffir Khan, besides several others.
