Punjab fully geared up to tackle Swine flu cases: Jayani says no need to panic

Health and Family Welfare Minister reiterated and reassured the people of Punjab that there was no need to panic on swine flu as the government hospitals were fully geared up to deal with any kind of eventuality.

 

In a statement issued here today the Minister said that at present there were 16 suspected cases out of which five ( 1 Ropar, 2 Ludhiana and 2 Amritsar) were found positive. The Minister said that the Rapid Response Teams in all the district headquarters were all equipped to tackle the cases. He also said that the civil surgeons have also been directed to give preference to the proper screening of the suspected cases so that the treatment, if required could be started in time. He also said that these were isolated cases and the state government has taken all precautionary measures to control the HINI influenza in the state.

 

Mr. Jayani also said that all the government hospitals were prepared with well equipped isolation wards where the patient has to be kept once found positive with the influenza. 

 

The Minister also said that the district health officers have been given all the required material for sample collection of nasal as well as throat swabs. All the samples would be collected by the trained laboratory technicians, he said.
