Punjab Congress was never so 'united', says Amarinder as Bajwa stands isolated

Amarinder1Amarinder2Amritsar, January 24, 2015 (Yes Punjab News)

Congress deputy leader in Lok Sabha, Capt Amarinder Singh today claimed that Punjab Congress was never so 'united'.

Not inviting Partap Singh Bajwa to even attend the 'Lalkar Rally' organised by him in open defiance of Congress high command and the PPCC, the former chief minister of Punjab today remained successful in conveying to the AICC that who stood where in Punjab politics.

Amarinder Singh, who had virtually snubbed Bajwa when he tried to claim that Amritsar rally would be a PPCC show, Saturday virtually isolated PPCC chief Bajwa.

As the number of senior leaders and MLAs clearly established the leadership of Capt Amarinder Singh once again, the only saving grace for Bajwa was that apart from him, former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal, Ludhiana MP Ravneet Singh Bittu and newly appointed Indian Youth Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring gave a miss to the function.

Brahm Mohindra, whom Capt Amarinder Singh tried to take along also declined to be the part of former chief minister's game even after he paid Mohindra a much delayed visit, after more than two decades to be precise.

In an informal interaction with the reporters at the venue of the rally, Capt Amarinder Singh rejected a question suggesting that the Congress was divided in Punjab. “How can you say the Congress is divided when 35 of the 43 MLAs and over 60 ex-MLAs, former PCC presidents and union ministers attended today’s rally?” he asked, while asserting, “Congress was never so much united and strong as it proved to be today”.
