Station House Officer of Sekhwan police station, Inspector, Mehnga Singh, who was arrested by the police in the custodial death case of Pargat Singh was today sent to judicial remand for 14 days.
According to the information available, Mehnga Singh was presented in the court of Judicial Magistrate, Harpreet Singh, who sent him into judicial remand till July 17.
It is to be noted that on June 30, Pargat Singh alias Bau son of Milka Singh was allegedly picked by Sekhwan police, where he was allegedly given third degree in the police custody. But when Pargat Singh became unconscious, he was shifted to civil hospital late, where the doctors told that Pargat Singh was ‘brought dead’.
After investigation, the police had registered a case of murder against SHO, Mehnga Singh and four other constables, Baldev Singh, Surjeet Singh, Pritpal Singh and Satwinder Singh. Though, Mehnga Singh was arrested by the police while the rest of four accused were absconding yet.
