Punjab Government committed to provide quality Education- OP Soni

Punjab Education Minister Mr. OP Soni on Sunday said that the state government is committed to provide quality education to the students so that students can play a major role in nation building. 


Addressing a gathering in a function organized by Shri Ram Krishan Sewa Sangh (Registered) in DAVIET, he said that Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh especially has ordered finance department to ensure hike in the budget of the education department and there should not be any dearth of funds for this department. 


He said that the government is upgrading infrastructure in the government schools besides setting up smart classrooms, computer labs, libraries, RO system and installing solar panels on the rooftops of the schools' buildings.


The education minister stated that the teachers must discharge their duties with dedication, sincerity, and commitment to impart value-based education to students for ensuring their bright future.


Mr. Soni told the teachers must develop the qualities of hard work, discipline, and leadership among students so that they can enable them to become ideal citizens of the society and contribute in the development of the nation.


Appealing the teachers' unions which are on strike, he said the government is ready to accept their all justified demands. 


Minister further added that the students of government schools have proved their mettle and they would continue their hard work to scale greater heights in life.


Lauding the role of Mr. Vijay Chopra, the Chief Editor of Hind Samachar group, the minister exhorted such organizations to come forward and join hands with government to improve the education system in Punjab. 


The minister also announced to give Rs 5 lakh to the organization for its contribution towards the society. 


Later speaking to media, he strongly condemned the attack at a spiritual gathering in Amritsar’s Nirankari Bhawan and said that guilty would not be spared. 


On the occasion, deputy commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Mayor Mr. Jagdish Raj Raja,  President of District Congress Committee Mr. Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia, Senior Congress Leader Mr. Satnam Singh Bitta and others were present.
