Rana Sodhi announces complete face lift of PAP Sports Complex in Jalandhar

Youth and Sports Affair Minister Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi today announced a complete facelift of the PAP Sports complex in the city to provide state of the art infrastructure and training facilities to the budding players of the region.

 

Addressing the gathering here while presiding over a function to mark the inauguration of the 67th All India Police Hockey Championship here today, the Minister said that an ultra Modren synthetic athletic track would be soon installed at the complex to further boost up track and field sports. Likewise, he also announced to provide mats for Judo, wrestling and Wushu games in the complex. Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi also announced to set up a modren physiotherapy centre inside the complex for imparting quality health services to the players.

 

The Minister said that Punjab government led by the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was already giving a huge patronage to sporting activities in the state. He said that special thrust was being laid on providing good training and state of the art facilities to players. Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi said that every effort would be made to ensure that sporting activity gets a major boost in the state.

 

Striking an emotional chord with hundreds of players and sports lovers present on the occasion, the Minister , an international player himself, said that whenever he attends a sporting event he feels like home. Complementing the Punjab Police for producing several ace players, he said that the force has left an indelible imprint in arena of sports . Rana Gurmeet Singh Sodhi also recalled that Hockey was one of the oldest games in the country and players from Punjab in general and Jalandhar in particular were an integral part of this sporting event.

 

Declaring the event open, the Minister expressed hope that this spectacular sporting event would be an enthralling experience for all the participating players.

 

Earlier, welcoming the Chief guest, the Director General of Police Mr Suresh Arora described him as a distinguished player and ardent lover of sports. He said that it was a matter great pride and satisfaction for Punjab that 645 players and officers of 27 hockey teams were participating in this mega event. Mr Arora said that PAP was powerhouse of sports in the country and has produced several renowned players and recipients of Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna, Arjuna Award, Dhian Chand and Padam shree awards.

 

On the occasion Additional Deputy General of Police Mr PAP Mr Kuldeep Singh thanked the dignitaries.

 

Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included MLA Sushil Kumar Rinku, IGPs PAP Mr.Jaskaran Singh and Mr TP Singh, IGP Jalandhar Zone Mr. Naunihal Singh, Police Commissioner Mr. PK Sinha,  Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, DIG Mr. SK Kalia,  Commandants Mr Rajinder Singh, Mr Sandeep Kumar Sharma, Mr HPS Khakh,and Mr Raghubir Singh besides other.

 

DGP (Retd) Mr.MS Bhullar also graced the occasion with his presence.
