Suresh Arora to continue as DGP Punjab, request for Central Deputation Withdrawn

suresh aroraChandigarh, March 17, 2017 (Yes Punjab News)

Suresh Arora, IPS would continue as Director General of Police, Punjab.

Though it has been a practice that the new Chief Ministers appoint a new DGP immediately after taking over, Capt Amarinder Singh, the new Chief Minister has instead asked Arora to continue.

Arora, who was appointed by the last SAD-BJP government led by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, had not only shown inclination to proceed on central deputation but had also moved the papers officially in this regard.

However, the Punjab Government today moved the Union Government and sought 'Withdrawl of willingness of Sh. Suresh Arora IPS, Director General of Police, Punjab, Chandigarh for Central Deputation.'

A letter under the above subject, signed by R.K.Kaushik, IAS,  Special Secretary, Home, was sent to Sh. Kumar Alok, IAS, Joint Secretary (Police-1), Govt. of India.

Sources said the withdrawl request is likely to be approved as Arora had not been appointed in the Centre as yet and his file was in the stage of 'initial process.'
