Rape, MMS Scandal shocks Sangrur: Police arrest two
Sangrur, August 30 (YP Bureau)
A Rape-cum-MMS Scandal has shocked the district of Sangrur in Punjab and especially village Mandvi as not only the victim of the Rape and MMS Scandal belongs to the village but even the culprits also belong to the same village.
The police have arrested two youth aged between 20-22 years on the complaint of a 30 year old married lady.
Those arrested have been identified as Bhagwant Singh alias Bhanti son of Harbel Singh and Navdeep Singh alias Soni son of Lakhwinder Singh, both residents of Mandvi.
SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar told ‘Yes Punjab’ that people of the village have to walk a stretch of 4-5 kilometers to reach Hamirgarh from where they can fetch a vehicle.
In April this year the lady had to go to Samana and she was offered lift by both the youth from their village to Hamirgarh but instead of taking her to Hamirgarh they took her to another route.
They not only raped the lady in the Alto Car owned by Bhagwant but also made her obscene MMS with their mobile.
The lady didn’t report the matter to police then but came forward to lodge a complaint against them when the youth circulated her MMS to their friends and the word began to spread.
The police then registered an FIR No. 87 against the accused under sections 376, 363, 354, 506, 34 IPC and 67-A of IT Act in police station Khanauri and arrested both of them.
It has been reported that the youth had raped many a women and girls in the vicinity and also had their MMS with them but the police said that no one has come up with a complaint of such nature against the youth.
“No one is ready to talk as the youth have brought shame to the village”, remarked a police officer. He however, assured that the police will be investigating the matter deeply.
