Police posted to guard foundation stone of Rs. 115 crore Bhagwan Valmiki Temple.Amritsar, Oct 27, 2013 (GS Chhina)

Heavy police contingent have been posted at Ram Tirath to guard the foundation stone of Rs. 115 crore Bhagwan Valmiki Temple laid by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, a few days ago as the situation became tense due to a row between Mahants and Valmikis over the possession of Dhuna Sahib.

Valmikis are said to be at present in possession of Dhuna sahib.  However, Mahants have obtained orders from the High Court for getting the possession of the disputed place. The Valmikis in possession of the place are said to be resisting the move despite the court orders.

People armed with sharp edged weapons have emerged on the scene to resist the move of Mahants to take possession.

Amritsar Rural SSP Manmohan Singh who led the police team and accompanied High Court officials to the disputed place has given two days time to Om Parkash Gabbar, a Valmiki leader, either to vacate Dhuna Sahib or bring a stay order.

Mahants have accused police for its inaction in the matter even as they have clear orders to take possession from the High court.

Sources said, police personnel from Amritsar, Tarn Taran and Majitha have been posted at the place to prevent any untoward incident.

As some sections of interested parties seem to be in aggressive mood and have certain objections regarding the place of foundation stone laid by chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, a strong posse of policemen have been posted to protect the foundation stone.
