Vodafone under scanner : 9 Company Officials summoned for Cheating

Inflicting hidden charges costs Vodafone, a private telecom company, dear when a Panchkula resident moved court, seeking prosecution of the officials of the company on the charges of cheating.

Judicial magistrate Sukhda Pritam has issued summons to nine officials of Vodafone telecom company, including its chief executive officer Marten Pieters, taking cognisance of the criminal complaint filed by Lalit Kumar Gupta.

Gupta had accused the telecom company of cheating the general public and him as well for their wrongful gains by causing wrongful losses.

Gupta accused the officials of cheating by tempering the electronic record of the account.

Gupta, in his complaint, had alleged that he had purchased a post-paid connection and the company, without his consent, activated and illegally charged for value added services.

He claimed that he had neither opted for nor used the service.

Moreover, Gupta added that he made representation to disconnect the service and refund the security but the accused in connivance with each other generated illegal bills and kept on sending them to Gupta for payment.

According to Gupta all acts of accused are amounted to fraud, misrepresentation, breach of trust and cheating by causing wrongful losses to him. The case would now come up for hearing on August 28.
