Guru Angad Dev Vet Varsity scientists bag awards at national conference

Research work conducted by the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University scientists working in the Department of Veterinary Medicine was honored at the ‘National Symposium on New Dimensions in Veterinary Medicine, Technological Advances, One Health Concept and Animal Welfare Concerns.


It was at 33rd Annual Convention of Indian Society for Veterinary Medicine (ISVM) held at Pokode Veterinary College, Wayanad, Kerala. In technical session on farm animal non-infectious diseases, Dr Raj Sukhbir Singh, Assistant Professor in Department of Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex received ‘Best Oral Presentation Award’ for his research paper on ‘Risk factors associated with the occurrence of teat-end hyperkeratosis in HF and Sahiwal crossbred dairy cows’ co-authored by Drs B K Bansal and D K Gupta.


In farm animal infectious diseases session, paper presented by Dr B K Bansal, Senior Scientist-cum-Head, Department of Veterinary Medicine on ‘Molecular epidemiology of Staphylococcus Aureus strains isolated from bovine mastitis’ co-authored by Drs Shukriti Sharma, D K Gupta, T A Shafi and G Filia was conferred with ‘Best Poster Presentation Award’. Dr Swarn Singh Randhawa, Associate Professor of the same Department received ‘Best Poster Presentation Award’ for the paper on ‘Validation of portable ultrasound machine with convex probe for the measurement of sole thickness in crossbred dairy cattle’ co-authored by Arwind Bagga, J Mohindroo and S S Randhawa.

At the conference, Drs. Kirti Dua, B K Bansal, Swarn Singh Randhawa and Sushma Chhabra also chaired various scientific sessions. Dr. S S Randhawa, Director of Research and Dean Post-Graduate Studies, who was President of ISVM society also attended the conference
