Panjab University, a favourite option for international students

Apart from being the most preferred choice for students of northern states of the country, Panjab University (PU) has also fast emerged as a favourite option for international students studying in the country.
As many as 140 international students from 17 countries were studying in various departments of the university during the current academic year, said a PU official on Tuesday.
The maximum number of international students were from Iran, Canada, Afghanistan, United States of America (USA) and United Kingdom (UK). Australia, Sweden, Germany, Singapore, Maldives, Iraq, Thailand, Ethiopia, Nepal and Vietnam are some other countries whose students are studying on the PU campus.
"Out of the 140 pursuing education at PU, 65 are girls," the official added.
As many as 63 international students were pursuing PhD in various departments such as anthropology, botany, biophysics, biotechnology, Chinese and Tibetan, computer science and application, communication studies, laws, economics, education, English and cultural studies, history, Indian theatre, microbiology, public administration, physics, philosophy, physical education, University Institute of Information and Technology (UIET) and psychology, said the spokesperson.
"BDS and BA LLB have emerged as a big attraction for international students pursuing bachelor degrees here. Most of the international students in these courses are from Canada and USA.
