PSEB-logo-eduLudhiana, Aug. 27, 2013 –

With an objective to prevent leakage of question papers from examination centres, the Punjab School Education Board ( PSEB) has decided to send question papers to two banks - Punjab National Bank and HDFC - from where examination controller or superintendent will collect it on the day of the scheduled examination.

The new arrangement will come into practice on September 4, when Class 10 and 12 students will appear in the exams for compartment/re-appear for improvement/ opt for additional subject.

Meanwhile, district education officer (secondary) Paramjit Kaur Chahal has collected the information about the number of students expected to write the exams from September 4.

Vice-chairman of the PSEB Suresh Tandon said: "The step was taken to avoid question paper leakage from examination centres. The question papers will be sent to various branches of the banks a week before the examination starts. The controller or superintendent can collect the question papers from the nearest branch on the date of the examination."

"Moreover, if the process succeeds, we will implement it for the annual exams to be held in March 2014," he added.

The banks have already been informed about the strength of the students in government schools nearest to them so that, in case the banks receive less number of question papers, it can inform the board following which more question papers will be sent to the banks.

On September 4, Class 12 students will appear for their English exam, while students of Class 10 will start their exam with science subject. Anoop Kumar Passi, principal at Government Senior Secondary School, Isewal, said: "This is a good initiative by the board to avoid question papers from leaking."
