LPU-Canadian-Students-JalandharJalandhar, May 24, 2018 (Yes Punjab News)

Every year, Lovely Professional University receives international students from its different foreign partner universities and also sends its own students to other countries to attend Student Exchange Programs. LPU has 70+ international tie-ups with top universities from across the globe. This year, too, 22 students along with faculty from one of the top Universities in Canada, Mount Royal University (MRU), reached LPU Campus under this program and learned about Indian culture & best practices. This is their Fourth visit to LPU; previously students from UK, Australia and USA also visited LPU.

Visiting students learnt about folk dance Bhangra, Hindi and Punjabi languages, typical Indian games including Kho-Kho, Indian singing patterns, how to cook Indian food and more. They also visited an NGO at Jalandhar to realize and imbibe sympathetic vehemence in India.

It was amazing to see Canadian students using addressing words “Nomestay” and “Sat Sri Akal” commonly while in conversation with local people and students. Head Division of International Affairs Mr Aman Mittal also addressed the students to broaden their visions.

Such an opportunity provides international exposure and experience to the participating students by studying in a completely new environment. Moreover, students get a chance to learn a lot about latest skills. Under these programs, students attend workshops related to their field and interact with other students to understand the studies and across borders. Students also imbibe customs, culture and traditions of the country visited by enjoying cultural programs. All of these efforts help students to get groomed to further emerge as truly global citizens.

One of the visiting students Ashley Jennifer pursuing Media Studies said: “We are very happy that our university chose LPU and Punjab for this exchange program. On reaching here we have learnt much about India, Indians and India’s rich culture. This is indeed a memorable learning expedition of my life. The “Punjabi” hospitality we received including learning the Bhangra was my best memories during this exchange.”

Debrina Maria Demong a student pursuing Childcare Studies at MRU shared: “I and my friends are very happy to reach at one of the largest university of India, LPU, and in sharing our thoughts in the Indian Language with LPU students and staff members. It will ever be a memorable experience for us as we got much recognition and a warm welcome at the campus.”
