Kullu, (Himachal) May 16 (YP Bureau)
Himachal Police is still clueless about identity and whereabouts of the alleged rapist of an Australian Woman who was raped by a youth who befriended her on Facebook.
A 23 year old Australian tourist had on Monday filed a complaint with the police at Kullu that she was raped by one Sammy Sidhana from Chandigarh at Kasol in Kullu Valley.
The Kullu Police, on Tuesday, dispatched a Team of Officials to Chandigarh to locate the alleged rapist even as it claimed that the accused may be using a fake identity and therefore it may prove tough to locate him.
However the police also told that not being able to confirm rape with primary medical report, test samples were now being sent to Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla for detailed examination.
Kullu superintendent of police Ashok Kumar said that the Australian embassy has been informed about the incident and a web has been spread to trap the accused. ‘We are taking the case as a serious matter and samples are being sent for further laboratory test’, he added.
The Australian tourist had in her complaint said that she moved to Kasol village after visiting Manali on May 10 and stayed in a guest house there.
Sammy Sidhana, one of her Facebook friends, after getting information about her location on the social networking site, joined her at a party in Kasol on May 12. She however, is not sure whether Sammy had a original profile or had projected to be one Sammy Sidhana.
Recalling the incident, the Australian tourist said, ‘I only remember that I was last attending a party till 3pm and then fell unconscious. I was raped by Sammy in a room at Hotel Green Valley’.
